    Dr. Ananthakrishnan Sivaraman

    Biography

    Dr. Ananthakrishnan Sivaraman is a Consultant Urologist, Uro Oncologist, and Robotic surgeon at CHENNAI UROLOGY AND ROBOTICS INSTITUTE PVT LTD (CURI HOSPITAL - SUPER SPECIALITY HOSPITAL CATERING TO RENAL, UROLOGY, URO ONCOLOGY DISEASES ).

    He specialises in Minimally invasive/Robotic surgery and Uro Oncology. He is also a national proctor for robotic surgery in India, running a fellowship program for robotics as well as one of the few robotic surgeons in the world to have performed a robotic renal transplant surgery. He has several publications in peer-reviewed journals and served as the managing editor for the Journal of Robotic surgery from 2010 to 2012. He has authored book chapters on robotic surgery and robotic training. He is also faculty in the University College London Robotic Centre for the Advanced urological robotic course as well as faculty in the Society of Robotic surgery.

    Dr. Ananthakrishnan's passion is to help prostate cancer patients lead better lives and to this effect, he has conducted several national and international camps to raise awareness and educate people about prostate cancer. Dr. Ananthakrishnan is best known for pioneering robotic surgery in South India.

    Dr. Ananthakrishnan is the founder and director of the INDIAN PROSTATE CANCER FOUNDATION, an organisation dedicated to the alleviation of suffering from Prostate cancer in India.

    Dr.Ananthakrishnan Sivaraman has been conferred a Special Achievement Award in Robotic Surgery y the Bengal Urological Society at Bengal Urology Society Conference (BUSCON) as part of their 50th-anniversary celebration held in Kolkata. The award was given by Ms.Chandrima Bhattacharya, Health Minister of Bengal on November 24th, 2013. The award has been given as recognition of his efforts in initiating, facilitating, and mentoring robotic surgeons in Kolkata over the past year.

    These were my first 2 years of full time Urology training and the busy work load coupled with less number of staff gave me ample opportunities to have first hand experience in Uro-gynaecology and being the training center for no scalpel vasectomy technique gave me ample opportunity to become proficient in the technique. Uro-radiology – Ultrasound KUB, IVP, AUG, RGP, USG guided PCN and AGP were my responsibility. Proficient in all day case urology and uro-gynecology procedures including vesico-vaginal fistulas.
